Area Information

Mount Pleasant, or as locals sometimes refer to as “Mount Perfect”, was recently named one of the most desirable places to live in the country. This also equates to a great place to invest your money in real estate.

Just three miles north of the Charleston Harbor is breezy, open-spaced Daniel Island. It’s location between the Cooper and Wando Rivers insures plenty of beautiful homes on or near water. The island includes over 23 miles of coastline and miles and miles of walking trails.

The most historic of the areas beach communities, Sullivan’s Island, has a charm that makes it one of the most sought after and expensive addresses in the region.

North of Sullivans Island is the Isle of Palms with its Wild Dunes Resort, where lux homes crown the white sand beaches on one side and golfers play the Links golf course on the other.

Real estate prices have soared, but Folly Beach continues to glory in its off-beat personality. It is a mecca for southern surfers, motorcyclists and families as well as beach style homes.

Across from the Ashley River from peninsular Charleston are the suburban communities of West Ashley and James Island. These areas have experienced a resurgence in recent years, and now have many of the areas most unique small restaurants and boutiques.

Home to grand manors and manners, the must-see South of Broad district has great views of the harbor. Driving through provides ready glimpses of its opulence, but the best way to witness one of the oldest section of the city is to walk or bike – especially the alleys and hidden streets.

Once the stomping ground for rowdy sailors, today The French Quarter area teems with more genteel, albeit active visitors. Some of the city’s best and most notable galleries, bars, restaurants, churches, graveyards and residences are here.

Ansonborough is Charleston’s first suburb.

Extending westward from King Street to the Ashley River, Harleston Village is home to the College of Charleston, but is, otherwise, overwhelmingly residential. Built up slowly from marshland and swamps, the neighborhood boasts an eclectic mix of buildings dating from every era of the city’s history.

Developed as a wealthy suburb in the late 18th century, today grand antebellum villas, stately churches, the visitor’s center, museums, and museum houses dot this landscape in the Downtown section of Charleston.

North of Calhoun, in Elliotborough, coeds rent single-houses alongside neighbors who have been there 50 years. Restaurants, galleries and shops are sprinkled among no frills family businesses, corner stores, neighborhood bars, and friend fish spots.
